What is a trading challenge?

A challenge is a simulated evaluation. You trade a demo account under our risk rules, and if you reach the profit target without breaching the drawdown limits, we allocate you a funded account and you keep the majority of the profits. All trading on Funded Apex is done on paper accounts with virtual balances.

How do I create an account?

Sign up with email or Google from the top-right of the site, verify your address, then choose a challenge size on the Challenges page. Your evaluation account is provisioned automatically and appears on your dashboard within a minute.

Which account size should I start with?

Accepted Answer

Pick the size where the daily loss limit still feels comfortable in dollars, not the biggest one you can afford. Most traders start at $10K or $25K, prove the process, then scale up with a larger challenge or through the scaling plan.

What's the difference between the 1-step and 2-step challenge?

The 1-step has a single evaluation phase with a tighter profit target and slightly stricter drawdown. The 2-step splits the journey into Phase 1 and Phase 2 with a lower target in each and more room to breathe. Both have no time limit. Full numbers are on the Trading Objectives page.

Do I need trading experience?

There is no experience requirement, but the rules are real risk rules. If you have never traded a consistent plan before, start on the smallest account and treat the evaluation as your practice ground.

Is Funded Apex available in my country?

Traders from most countries can take a challenge. We cannot onboard traders in sanctioned jurisdictions. If your sign-up is blocked, support will tell you exactly why.

How much does it cost to start?

Challenges start at $5 for a $10,000 account and go up to $100 for a $200,000 account. The fee is one-time and is refunded with your first payout.

Is the fee really refunded?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The challenge fee is added to your first payout once you become funded and complete your first 14-day payout cycle. It is refunded once per funded account.

Is there a time limit on a challenge?

No. Neither the one-step nor the two-step challenge has an expiry. You only need a minimum of three trading days per phase.

What happens if I fail? Can I retry?

The account is closed the moment a hard rule is breached. You can start again at any time, and failed accounts qualify for a discounted reset instead of paying the full fee again.

Can I run more than one challenge at a time?

Yes. You can hold multiple challenges and funded accounts up to a combined allocation of $400,000. Copying the same trades across unrelated traders' accounts is not allowed.

Can I get a refund on a challenge I haven't traded?

If you have not placed a single trade, contact support within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the fee in full.

How is the daily loss limit calculated?

It is measured against your equity high-water mark at the start of the trading day, including floating profit and loss. The limit resets at 00:00 server time. Your dashboard shows the exact dollar distance to the line in real time.

How does the maximum drawdown work?

The overall drawdown floor is static: it is set from your starting balance and never trails your profits. Once you are up, the floor stays where it started, so every dollar you earn is genuine buffer.

What counts as a trading day?

Any day on which you open or close at least one position. You need a minimum of three trading days per phase, and they do not have to be consecutive.

Can I use expert advisors, algos, or news trade?

Yes. EAs, algorithmic systems, news trading, and weekend holding are all allowed. Prohibited behaviour is limited to latency arbitrage, tick scalping exploits, reverse-arbitrage between accounts, and group copy trading across unrelated accounts.

Is there a consistency rule?

There is no hard consistency cap during the evaluation. On funded accounts we review payouts where a single day accounts for the vast majority of total profit, purely to confirm the result is a strategy and not a one-off gamble.

Do I have to use a stop loss?

No mandatory stop loss and no minimum holding time. Risk management is yours to run, as long as the daily loss and drawdown limits hold.

What happens if I break a rule?

The account is closed. You can restart at a discount with a reset, and you keep any payout already processed.

Why does my account say "preparing demo balance"?

The paper broker is still provisioning your virtual balance. It normally clears within a couple of minutes; you can press the refresh control on the dashboard to re-check the broker status.

What leverage do I get?

Up to 1:100 on FX and metals, 1:20 on indices, and 1:2 on crypto. Leverage is identical in the evaluation and on funded accounts.

Raw spreads with a commission on FX and metals, and swap charges on positions held overnight, mirroring realistic institutional conditions.

After two profitable payout cycles with no rule breaches, your allocation increases by 25% and your split moves to 90%. Scaling repeats up to a $400,000 total allocation.

Use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email. If you originally signed up with Google, sign in with Google rather than a password.
